The Matsue city is the capital of Shimane. It has a history of 400 years as a castle town. With a moat surrounding the castle, Lake Shinji and Nakaumi Inland Sea, it is rich in waterscapes and is called "City of Water".  The neighboring city, Izumo is full of historical and cultural properties such as Izumo Taisha Grand Shrine, the oldest shrine in Japan.
