March 1991: Research on cinnamon producing forest in Sumatra with Prof. H. Watanabe (Kyoto Univ.).

November 1990: Research on lacquer producing forest in Northern Thailand with Prof. H. Watanabe (Kyoto Univ.).

December 1997: Nutrient cycling and decomposition processes in tropical forest with Prof. H. Takeda (Kyoto Univ.) and Dr. J. Tsukamoto (Kochi Univ.).

-Malaysia

1992-1995: Research on nutrient cycling and decomposition processes in dipterocarp plantations in Peninsular Malaysia. Joined as a member of a joint research project of NIES/FRIM/UPM under the guidance of Dr. H. Takeda (Kyoto Univ.).

1999-2001: Research on the effects of deforestation and forest deterioration on productivity and mater cycle of ecosystem of tropical forests. Joined as a member of a joint research project of NIES/FRIM/UPM.

2005(-2006): Research on the carbon budget of Asian terrestrial ecosystems for the new century carbon management system. Joined as a member of a joint research project of FFPRI/NIES/FRIM.
